Relathea

Relathea is a fantasy kingdom where magic, found in many forms, is treasured. Certain individuals may be born with Quintessence, the spark of magic. Just as Quintessence is found in many forms, so it develops differently in every individual gifted with its power. However, Quintessence has been disappearing over the past few years, and fewer and fewer individuals are born with its incredible power. To learn more about Quintessence, please scroll down.

Relathea is very small, and has only one city: the capital, Drachaendrie. Around Drachaendrie lies farmland for only two miles in all directions. All around the borders are the Kaukasos mountains, which enclose Relathea in a perfect circle. Drachaendrie is the perfect center.

Relathea is ruled by King Simian and Queen Ryandra. The royal family consists of the King and Queen, their eldest child Caleb, and the triplet princesses: Mayalisse, Cassanova, and Taranee. Relathea is a matriarchy, and so the burden of Queenship will pass to Taranee upon the death of her parents.

Relatheans are relatively wealthy as long as they are willing to work. A public education system teaches children until they pass standardized tests to prove their reading, writing, math, and geography skills. Once a Relathean leaves school at the average age of sixteen, they may choose a Guild in which they would like to be apprenticed. If they pass an examination of their skills, made by their Guild Masters, they are never turned down, but they must choose wisely as they will be roped into their chosen career for the remainder of their life.
The royal family is no exception: King Simian is a Warrior, Queen Ryandra is a Scholar, and Prince Caleb is an Artist. The triplets are fifteen and so have not made their official choice. They will not receive their titles until they have turned sixteen, but most o the kingdom knows the choices of Mayalisse and Cassanova. Taranee? A completely different story.
